In the first year of elementary school, your child will start learning the logic behind numbers through counting, ordering, and comparing.
They will also learn about addition and subtraction and begin understanding multiplication and division through these operations.
Other subjects introduced are halves and quarters, basic measurements, telling the time, different coin values, basic graphs, and 2D and 3D shapes.
1st Grade Learning plan
The main subjects learned in the 1st year are number sense to 10 and later on to 100, single digit addition and subtraction, adding and subtracting tens, the meaning of ‘half’, developing a sense of measurement, learning about the clock, being familiar with different coins and notes and introduction to simple geometric shapes.
